Health Center Admissions
El Castillo offers two type of admissions to our Health Center:
1) Our LifeCare residents: Those people who have been living at El Castillo in an Independent apartment. As part of their LifeCare agreement, the fees for these residents to move into Assisted Living or Nursing Care is commensurate with what they were currently paying for their apartment.
2) Associate residents: People who do not come from our Independent Living community and do not have LifeCare agreements with El Castillo. These residents come directly to Assisted Living or Nursing from their private home or another residence.
The fees for these residents is competitive with other nursing care facilities and commensurate with the services they require.
There may be tax advantages for El Castillo residents as several IRS rulings have established that a portion of a LifeCare community monthly service fees are deductible as prepaid medical expense. These health care tax deductions are only available through LifeCare communities such as El Castillo. As always, you should discuss your individual tax situation with your personal tax advisor. In addition, you do not pay State of New Mexico gross receipts tax on El Castillo services.
